Closing time for the bars People float through the streets as the snow falls Neon lights in the cold air Crowds wait on corners for taxis that don't appear I am here with you tonight Hold my hand Take me home For Christmas Lay me down 'neath the tree Arrange all the presents around my feet Lay me down 'neath the tree And see if I'm sober by morning when you appear I am here with you tonight There's a change in the air there's a frost in the ground Let the new snow fall down and cover our tracks The mistakes of past, the mistakes of the past Can lie buried for Christmas I am here with you tonight Hold my hand Take me home For Christmas Merry Christmas to the drunks Merry Christmas to the lovers Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas To us I am here with you tonight Hold my hand Take me home For Christmas Merry Christmas to the drunks Merry Christmas to the lovers Merry Christmas To the drunken lovers Merry Christmas to the drunks Merry Christmas to the drunken lovers Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas To us I am here with you tonight Take my hand Take my hand For Christmas

A straight white line through the east-coast night And a voice on the telephone An old man passes from us Let’s (just) get these bodies home And the coastal road cuts the morning air Takes the salt out of the waves (So) Hold my had and kiss me Before we run out of days And if I pass away from you Just throw me to the sea Don’t look back at the rising waves That take me underneath An old man at the end of all the things he’s done and seen The old man at the edge of the sea. Half the world is on its knees and waiting for the light The other half is tooled up And spoiling for a fight And the East Coast night and the summer haze Is all you’ll ever need And young men rise and old men fall But never really leave And if I pass away from you Just throw me to the sea Don’t look back at the darkened waves That rise up to claim me And a straight white line through the East Coast night In the early summer haze And an old man and his grandson Have a parting of the ways And if I pass away from you Just throw me to the sea Don’t look back at the rising waves That take me underneath

In the back seat Of the cinema There’s a bargain To be made Teenage love tryst Ful of energy Raw electricity Is all you need It’s not only For the lonely That these old words Were made You and I could Live or die soon But we will need it In the end Glory Glory Hallelujah Sing the crowds out In the street Pray for Jesus Pray for everyone Pray for murderers And pray for me Pray for sinners And believers Pray for lost souls And me Pray for Jesus Pray for everyone Pray for darkness And me Makes no difference If I’m listening I can hear the Dark refrain Makes no difference If you’re listening Makes no difference To me I was young once I was seduced by The rebellion Of youth I was young once I was seduced by The rebellion Of you When the night falls On these four walls Band together And pray for me For I was young once I had rebellion I had everything At my feet Glory Glory Hallelujah Sing the birds out In the trees And I leave now I believe now Hallelujah Or so (or so they say) I Have had my time now Hallelujah My dear Hallelujah Hallelujah My dear. Glory Glory Hallelujah My dear.

Edinburgh 01:58
You have failed me Edinburgh But I love you all the more From the streets in winter sunlight From the old town to the shore Edinburgh you have, you have Failed me this time Couldn’t make the good times Last forever I have nothing else, but sleep I have no more to give Before I go I have to tell you this You have failed me Edinburgh But I love you all the more From the streets in winter sunlight From the old town to the shore For the Meadows and the Gardens For the statues and the parks For the people, for the people that you have For the people, for the people that you have I have failed you Edinburgh I’ve failed everyone I know I will leave you – though it hurts me More than I can say And the people I know And the people I know, I know, I know, I know I know

Winter Boots 04:42
The stitching on your dress The eyelets on your shoes That let the rain in But still you refuse Winter boots Winter boots The buttons on your skirt The ribbons in your hair The pattern on your tights The one that’s barely there And the stories that you leave LIttle bruises, little scratches on me Remind me, that I am home again, home again They remind me that I am home When I’m with you And I have places I should be Quiet mountainsides Friends at home Things I know But I have things anymore. The scratches on your skin The red on your lips My hand around your wrist This is it This it And the stories that you leave LIttle bruises, little scratches on me Remind me, that I am home again, home again They remind me that I am home When I’m with you And I have places I should be Quiet mountainsides Friends I know Things I need But there are things I just can’t see Anymore, anymore

The running order is:

1. Merry Christmas to the Drunks, Merry Christmas to the Lovers
2. East Coast (If I pass away from you)
3. Pray for Murderers
4. Edinburgh
5. The National Trust
6. Winter Boots

- but no-one cares about running orders anymore right? Make your own if you prefer them another way.

The songs were recorded with Pete Harvey at Pumpkinfield Studios, Perthshire, and at the Housechurch, Edinburgh. They were mainly recorded live in the room with everyone sitting facing each other - like people used to in the olden days.

We hope you enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoyed making them.
